A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. Proverbs 14:29

As Christians, our character should be marked by the Fruit of the Spirit, one of which, of course, is Patience. And how important is that in today’ environment?

Patience is a struggle for all of us. And, at times, it can be more or worse so. But God has given us plenty of good direction to help us.

The Bible is clear that we act foolishly when we lose control of our patience. A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back. (Proverbs 29:11)

Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult. (Proverbs 12:16)

Anger isn’t always bad though, just when it makes us sin. Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger. (Ephesians 4:26) Let’s face it, we’re still human, living in the flesh, subject to the temptations of the world. But as the Holy Spirit works in us to shape us more and more into the character of Jesus, we should be able to better and better manage our responses to those temptations so as not to sin.

So, if patience is a problem for you, pray about it. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where the problem is and to help you make the changes you need to make to mature in that area. God bless you and guide you in all your ways, now and forever.
